Bali, The Paradise on Earth in Indonesia



Bali Island known as the God's Island worldwide for its beautiful nature and culture. The island in middle south part of Indonesia got its famous decades ago as a tourist destination. The Province of Bali is a part of Republic of Indonesia named as paradise for its beautiful complete natural attractions and the Balinese's culture which creating wisdom to protect their nature and the environment supporting the living culture in the island. 

Bali in Figures, 2022, stated that the total area of Bali Province is 5.780,06 square kilometers, consists of several islands. Bali Island is the main island and the biggest one, Nusa Penida Island, Nusa Ceningan Island, Nusa Lembongan Island, Serangan Island which located at the southern part of Bali Island, and Menjangan Island which located at the west side of Bali island.


The islands in Bali Province have many varieties of natural shoreline characteristics and highlands landscape for its geographical position nature. Bali Province lie at 08º03'40" - 08º50'48" South Latitude and 114º25'53" - 115º42'40" East Longitude. Bali borders in east side is Lombok Strait and West Nusa Tenggara Province, in west side is Bali Strait and East Java Province, in North side is Bali Sea and in south is Indian Ocean. 


As a part of Indonesia's ring of fires, geologically, Bali Island formation connected to the movement of continental belt of Indo-Australia tectonic plate and the Eurasia tectonic plate. Mccaffrey, Rob & Nabelek, John. (1987) on their article; Earthquakes, gravity, and the origin of the Bali Basin: An example of a Nascent Continental Fold-and-Thrust Belt published on Journal of Geophysical Research describe that based on bathymetry and gravity field and from the source mechanisms and depths of the 8 largest earthquakes in the Bali region that the Bali Basin is a downwarp in the crust of the Sunda Shelf produced and maintained by thrusting along the Flores back arc thrust zone.


The scientific article confirmed that Bali's beautiful nature formation creating by the geological process running below the surface of the island. No wonder that Bali has active volcanoes in the island, they are Mount Agung, Mount Batur, Mount Beratan and Mount Merbuk. Those volcanoes have significant influences for the nature formation of Bali's highland landscape and the environment's parameters.




The nature of Bali Island also have significant influences for the locals living in the islands. The Balinese known for their belief about important connection of their daily life and their nature they are living in. Balinese's culture have amazing connection and respects for the nature resources they have in the island. Most of their daily life have specific connections which highly respect the nature around them and make it as a local wisdom in the Balinese culture and Bali Hinduism belief.

Mount Agung, The Mighty Volcano in Bali Island

Mount Agung known in Indonesia as Gunung Agung. In Bahasa Indonesia Gunung is Mount and Agung is Great or Mighty. It can be defined that the Mount Agung have very significant influences for the livings around the mount for its great name. Mount Bratan, the Ancient Volcano in North Bali

Mount Bratan which also known as Buyan-Bratan have obvious volcanic complex features in north-central Bali. The volcano have beautiful scenery with Lake Beratan in located next to Mount Bratan and Mount Catur. The most known landmark in Mount Bratan is the Balinese Hinduism temple in the Bratan Lake waters.
