Regencies and city in Province of Bali, Indonesia





Indonesia governmental structure ruled in Undang-Undang Republic Indonesia Nomor 9 tahun 2015 tentang Perubahan Kedua atas Undang-Undang Nomor 23 Tahun 2014 tentang Pemerintahan Daerah. The local government law classified that the local governments are Provincial level or Provinsi which consists of some Regencies/Districts or Kabupaten, and/or a city or some cities or Kota. Regency or city consists of some sub-districts or Kecamatan and sub-district consists of some village or desa and/or kelurahan. 


Province local government lead by a governor and have the provincial senates member. The Regency or District local government lead by head of district or Bupati, and a city lead by a mayor or Walikota. Village or Desa lead by head of village or Kepala Desa. Sub-district or Kecamatan is a supporting local government which lead by Camat. Governor, Head of District and Head of village are chosen by local election, meanwhile head of sub-district or Camat is chosen by the Head of District or Mayor of a city. 


Bali is one of provinces in Indonesia, lead by a governor. The governor of Bali for 2018 to 2023 is Dr. Ir. I Wayan Koster MM. Province of Bali consists of 8 regencies and 1 city, 57 sub-districts, 716 villages or kelurahan. Bali have special culture government which called Desa Adat. There are 1.493 culture villages or desa adat. Denpasar city, the only city in Bali is the capital of Province of Bali. The province of Bali districts are Jembrana District with it's capital Negara, Tabanan District, the capital is Tabanan, Badung District, the capital is Mangupura, Gianyar District, the capital is Gianyar, Klungkung District, the capital is Semarapura, Bangli District, the capital is Bangli, Karangasem District, the capital is Amlapura, and Buleleng District, the capital is Singaraja.


Total area of Bali Province is 5.780,06 square kilometer (sq.km). The areas divided by Jembrana District 841,80 square kilometers, Tabanan 1.013,88 sq.km, Badung 418,62 sq.km, Gianyar 368,00 sq.km, Klungkung 315,00 sq.km, Bangli 490,71 sq.km, Karangasem 839,54 sq.km, Buleleng 1.364,73 sq.km and Denpasar City 127,78 sq.km. The biggest district is Buleleng District with 1.364,73 square kilometer width or 23,61% of the Bali Province area which is most of the area in North Bali, stretched from east to west Bali areas. And the smallest one is the capital of Bali Province, Denpasar City in middle and south east area which has 127,78 square kilometer width or only 2,21% of the Bali Province area.


Bali Island landscape consists of mountainous areas or highlands, lowlands and shorelines. The total islands in Bali Province is 85 islands which some only small islands which not inhabit by people. The shoreline length of Balis Island is about 633,35 kilometers length. There are volcanoes, valleys, lakes, rivers and wetlands in Bali Province areas. The variety of geological features of Bali creating beautiful landscape in the island. Combined with the rich wisdom of local culture which has beautiful arts and architectures, Bali known as the God's Island in Indonesia.
