Bangli Regency, the only district in Bali Island which have no beach area



Bangli Regency is the only district in Bali Province which has no shoreline or beach area. But the regency has a great mountainous areas and a lake in Kintamani highlands. Mount Batur volcano and its caldera is lied in Bangli Regency highland area. The fertile soils surrounding Mount Batur volcano residues providing agriculture and forestry for the regency. Beautiful landscape of mountains, lakes, valleys, rivers, paddy fields and the local cultures attract tourists visiting the district and generate the tourism industry in Bangli Regency. 

Geographically, Bangli Regency located at 08º 8′ 30” – 08º 31′ 07” South Latitude and 115º 13′ 43” – 115º 27′ 24” East Longitude. Administrative borders of Bangli Regency is with Buleleng Regency in north side, Karangasem Regency at east side, Klungkung Regency at south side and Gianyar Regency and Badung Regency at west side. The capital of Bangli Regency is at Bangli subdistrict in the middle part of the regency. 

The total area of Bangli Regency based on Bangli In Figures 2022, is 520,81 square kilometers or 9,25% (percents) of Bali Province total areal. The area shared by 4 subdistricts and 72 villages and/or kelurahan. The subdistricts in Bangli Regency are Kintamani Subdistrict the most biggest subdistrict in Bangli Regency with area 366,9 square kilometers or 70.45% (percents) of Bangli Regency area, Bangli Subdistrict with 56.3 square kilometers or 10,81% of Bangli Regency area, Susut Subdistrict with 49.3 square kilometers or 9.47% of Bangli Regency area and Tembuku Subdistrict with 48.3 square kilometers or 9.27% (percent) of Bangli Regency area. 

Geomorphology of Bangli Regency consisted of lowland in southern area and highland in northern area. The highest peak is 2,152 meters above sea level at Penulisan Peak at Mount Batur, one of active volcano in Bali Island which has been part of UNESCO Global Geopark Network. Most of Bangli Regency topography is highland area in Kintamani Subdistrict highland and the altitude decreased to southern area of the regency. Bangli Regency in Figures 2022 stated that the altitude of the subdistricts in Bangli Regency are Susut Subdistrict, Bangli Subdistrict and Tembuku Subdistrict altitude range at 0 to 250 meters above sea level and Kintamani Subdistrict at 250 to 1,000 meters above sea level. 


Kintamani highland geomorphology have significant influences for the climate in Bangli Regency. The cooling moisture from both north and south ocean in Kintamani highland air resulted more rainy days in Bangli Regency. Bangli Regency in Figures 2022 stated that in 2020, showers intensity in the regency between February to October were higher compared to November until January in the year.
